"What Will It BEE?" Gender Reveal Party

Last month we celebrated our baby to "bee" with a Gender Reveal party, and the results were even sweeter and more exciting than I could have possibly prepared myself for.  After looking around online I came across Libby Lane Press' beautiful photoshoot from a styled gender reveal party featured on "Hostess with the Mostess" entitled "Honeybee Gender Reveal."  I thought the idea was just darling, and I immediately hit it off with owner Nicolle.  I knew this was going to be one special party, and she was so kind and thoughful to assist me as we prepared for our very own, "What will it BEE?" celebration!

Approximately 35 of our closest family and friends joined us for a light dinner and dessert.  Our out of town relatives who could not join us, including my parents and brothers and sister, were all on standby on a conference call, waiting to hear the big reveal.  Truthfully, I could hardly eat, I was so anxious and excited to find out what was inside the beautiful cake!  Our ultrasound two days before revealed the most darling baby boy or girl I had ever laid eyes on, and most importantly, the ultrasound technician and our doctor all confirmed that the baby was the picture of health, and growing along right on schedule.  What a true miracle and reason to celebrate in itself!

Upon arrival, our guests had the opportunity to cast their vote for "Boy" or "Girl" on a pair of distressed fleur-de-lis chalkboards.  Our menu, which was designed to be finger food and kid-friendly, consisted of an enormous platter of Chick-fil-a chicken nuggets and sauces, a delicious spinach bread from a local bakery, pepper jelly and a variety of chips, cheese straws and crackers, vegetable crudite, fruit platter, and a homemade sundried tomato pasta salad.  We served Sweet Tea with lemons, and a Southern Comfort punch by Paula Deen (which I hear was quite tasty!)

The main attraction of course was the beautiful cake, made by a dear friend and very talented pastry chef.  She designed the cake using a beehive bundt pan that I purchased through Williams Sonoma, and came up with the bee cake pop decorations and fondant color scheme after seeing our invitations.  It was almost too pretty to eat!  She also made us two dozen of the most darling and scrumptious chocolate cupcakes imaginable.  I adored all the printables, especially the banners, paper straws and cupcake toppers that I put together myself!

And just like that it was time for the big moment!  We all crowded around the cake in our dining room....I will be honest, I had been thinking girl all along, but about a week before the party I really started thinking the baby was a boy.  I totally expected to see blue when we cut the cake.

And.....

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a GIRL!!!!!

Matt and I hugged and kissed and giggled for what felt like 20 minutes, as everyone hugged and cried happy tears all around us.  I literally jumped into Matt's arms after cutting the cake...it was such a magical moment!

The video below is tiny, but it will give you an idea of the excitement of the big moment...

Truly, one of the very happiest days of my life.
Special thanks to our family and friends for making our celebration complete!

We can't wait to meet you Baby Girl, and love you to the moon and back!
xoxo

  26. I just adore this! I designed and created the Honeybee Gender Reveal Collection never even having a clue it would enter the homes of so many moms and dads to be. It's rare that anyone ever shares their actual reveal party with me so this truly warms my heart to see my designs come to life.
Best of luck to your new lovely family!
