Happy New Year sweet friends! Hope that 2012 is off to a remarkable start for you. Thanks a million for all the wonderful wishes on our happy baby news :) We are still overjoyed and at times it still feels a little surreal! Baby cakes definitely got spoiled with treats this Christmas and it was really fun being able to celebrate with our friends and family, knowing next Christmas season there will be a little bundle of love among us!
My sixteen week ultrasound is on Monday, and there is a good chance if the little one cooperates we might find out BOY or GIRL! Eeek! We will both of course be happy either way, and as much as I would love to have a little mini-Trishy, a sweet baby mini-Matt would be a ton of fun too. :)
My sweet friend Sara posted these old wives' tales on her blog a few weeks ago, and I thought it would be fun to play along too. Here goes!
Chinese calendar (based on mother's age and month of conception): GIRL
Heartbeat (faster than 140 bpm = girl; slower than 140 bpm = boy): 170 - GIRL
Morning sickness (very sick = girl; not so sick = boy): BOY
Skin (breakouts = girl; clear skin = boy): GIRL
Leg hair growth (no more than usual = girl; lots of growth = boy): GIRL
Cravings (sweet = girl; salty = boy): GIRL
Feet (hot = girl; cold = boy): BOY
Bump position (high and wide = girl; low and centered = boy): BOY
Breast growth (lots of growth = girl; not much = boy): GIRL
Mayan calendar (if mother's age at conception and year of conception are both even/odd = girl; if one is even and one is odd = boy): GIRL
Sympathy weight (if your husband gains weight during the pregnancy = girl; if he doesn't = boy): GIRL
Ring test (ring swings back and forth = girl; ring swings in a circle = boy): BOY
My "mother's intuition" says: this is so hard...I have not really had strong feelings one way or the other...and ALL of my pregnant friends are either having boys or are pregnant with boys....but if I had to guess, I say GIRL
Matt's "father's intuition" says: Matt has been dead set since week 5 that this baby is a GIRL

Congrats! My husband has had a little "baby fever" lately (funny because I always thought the girl would have it before the man) but I told we need to wait a tiny bit longer and enjoy the married life! Trust me though, I cannot WAIT until I have kids of my own... Their just sooo adorable!

It looks like you are having a girl! I knew the second I found out I was pg that I was having a boy.
ReplyDeleteThe Chinese calendar is probably the most accurate...strange as that seems. Everyone I know who went by that got the same result at the calendar.
They also say a girl 'steals your beauty' meaning you dont look as good as you did before (and after).
I think it's a girl too! I can't wait to find out! I'm going to wait to plan our date until you find out because I want to bring a little somethin' somethin'! Do y'all have names picked out!?

Sounds like a girl to me but as long as the little one is healthy that's all that matters! My girlfriend carried her 2nd girl so low we thought for sure it was a boy but surprise! Can't wait to see how everything goes on Monday ~ no matter what you are going to be an incredible Mom. xo

Oh how fun to play this guessing game!! For some reason I picture you with a sweet little girl, but perhaps that's because you are so girly :) A little boy will melt your heart completely too. You two will make wonderful parents!! Can't wait :)

ReplyDeleteOh baby doll...do NOT get disappointed, if you cannot find out at your next appt. Happened to me...I was so upset. *hormones* At first I thought...."OH it's a girl!" But as soon as I maximized the window....I thought, "No, a boy!" So don't rely on me...lol. Best wishes for a healthy babe. No matter pink or blue.
ReplyDeleteAhhh!! So exciting! I was just wondering the other day if you guys were going to find out the baby's sex. I'm so excited for you! It has been so much fun knowing what we're having and bonding with our baby boy. I can't wait for you to know so you can start decorating the nursery, buying clothes, contemplating names! It's so exciting. You're so right, everyone is having a boy these days, so I'm guessing girl for you. That way maybe our little Mac can someday fall in love with your mini-Trishy. :) Wouldn't that be too adorable!
