Quotable Monday: Back to School

"Don't you love New York in the fall?  It makes me wanna buy school supplies.  I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."

- Joe Fox, from one of my favorite movies, "You've Got Mail"

Wishing everyone heading back to school a most wonderful year ahead!!

Pink & Green Thursday with @sthrnbellesimpl

Happy Pink & Green Thursday sweetie-pies! I'm Kate from Southern Belle Simple and I'll be your hostess for today's little soiree. Many thanks to the gracious Trish for allowing me to spend some time with y'all in her place! Miss Trish has a full plate right now so let's all send her some love!

72 years ago today, one of my favorite films, The Wizard of Oz, was released in theaters. Since I had Oz on my mind, I decided to share a few similarly-themed images for today's post. How many of you loved Dorothy and her adventures as much as I did?

{a new twist on the ruby slippers…a modern-day Dorothy would be tapping her toes for sure in these lovely shoes}

{The twinkling lights of the Emerald City might beckon, but sometimes a lush field of green is just what the soul needs to be refreshed}

{rest among the poppies…good for daydreaming or scheming up ways to get home}

{if that doesn’t work, click these beauties together three times and you’re sure to end up exactly where your heart desires to be}

{and if all this sweetness is too much for you because you’re feeling a mean streak coming on, grab a cocktail and sit next to me!}

Happy Anniversary to the Wonderful Wizard of Oz....you still look fabulous after 72 years! Hope everyone enjoys this glorious Thursday and don't forget to link up so we can all see your pink and green! Thanks for having me and feel free to visit me over at Southern Belle Simple any time!

Summer's End Toast

The days and weeks of summer have breezed by, almost too quickly this year.  So much happening and more changes on the horizon, but these changes are so comforting and thrilling.  In just a few weeks we will have closed on our wonderful new home and we will once again begin planting roots.  I can hardly believe we will celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary after being in the house for just one week.  The Prosecco is already chilling!

An exciting new chapter in our lives, I realize we will spend the rest of our thirties in this house.  That if we are so fortunate Matt and I will be bringing our babies home to this house.  So many memories to be made and celebrations to be had.  It is all so wonderful and overwhelming and I am feeling very grown up these days.

As we juggle it all, the inspections, repairs, budgets, decorating, daydreaming of decadent dinner parties, baking in my new kitchen and entertaining over outdoor BBQ's, finding the perfect spot for the Christmas tree, and a million other things that have been floating around in my head, I'm taking a step back to realize how very, very blessed we are to be at this point in our lives.  Everyone's journey is different, and ours has certainly had its unexpected twists and turns over the years; not bad, just different.  I am reminded that all of our hard work, sacrifice, prayers, and trust - trust in each other and in God, have brought us here to where we are. Home is really where the heart is, and our hearts just couldn't be happier to be making the final steps to our Home Sweet Home.

I started writing this blog August two years ago, as a little creative outlet and a home for my thoughts and pretty finds.  Since then I have met some of the absolute loveliest people imaginable, both online and in person.  I am so grateful to each and every person who stops by and reads my blog.  Thank you for supporting me and continuing to inspire me!

I'm going to take the next few weeks to focus on personal things with the house, a minor outpatient surgery procedure Friday, Labor Day weekend - a last summer hurrah!, and juggling my job and family commitments.  I've got a few scheduled posts and a couple fabulous guest posts lined up too to keep you company in my absence.

In the meantime, a million thanks again.  You all mean so much to me.  I hope that you all enjoy the last couple weeks of the summer....soak up every last drop!  Cheers!

With love always,
Trishy

One Kings Lane: New Home Goodies

(Images via, via)

Naturally since we are in the final stages of operation New Home I am totally giddy about shopping for a few new things to warm up the new house.  That being said, since home purchases cost a small fortune, I am looking to save pennies everywhere I can, without sacrificing style and quality.  Enter One Kings Lane, a fabulous discount members-only shopping site!  I have loved shopping from OKL in the past for fun gifts and occasional personal purchases, but lately I have had some great luck that I wanted to share with you.

These Chelsea Manor 6" distressed crown candle holders are darling and would look great on a bookshelf or mantle, or used as actual candle holders.  They definitely will grace my table during Mardi Gras season, that is for sure!  They were on sale this week for $25 for the pair.

This Safavieh Gus Dhurrie 8' x 10' woven wool rug was a bigger purchase, but I have been on the hunt forever for a rug like this in the chocolate brown color, and decided to go for it considering the savings.  Originally $960, it was on sale this week for $429.  I can't wait to see it in our living room, I think it is going to be perfect!

Lastly, with all of the moves we have made over the last five years, I've hesitated on ordering a return address stamp, even though I have oohed and ahhhed over them and given plenty for gifts.  This week on OKL, a Three Designing Women custom stamp was on sale for $29, which also included a 60-sheet list pad in preppy pink and green, 50 matching gift enclosure/calling cards, and 10 folded note cards and envelopes.  I thought it was a great deal, considering the stamps alone are usually $40!

Need an invite to One Kings Lane?  No worries, just click here!

Do you have any other fabulous discount home decorating shopping sites?
Pretty please share, I would be most appreciative!!

Happy Friday!

Pink & Green Thursday: Pink Palace Wedding

Hello and Happy Pink & Green Thursday!

After seeing this wedding on Style Me Pretty, although I posted about weddings last week, I couldn't help but showcase such a beautiful wedding this week!  After all, it was held at the lovely Pink Palace, a grand estate in Atlanta.  The couple hosted an intimate wedding ceremony and reception, complete with a gospel choir, a lavish buffet including Southern and Mediterranean cuisine, and their five beloved daughters as their attendants.  Dancing in the courtyard poolside continued late into the night...and I personally love all the flowers and the extra pink spot lights!

Happy Pink & Green Thursday!

P.S.  Many thanks to everyone for all the happy wishes on our new home!  Please understand posting will be a little light over the next month as we make preparations for our closing and another move.  Special thanks to all my Pink & Green Thursday blog hop friends for linking up - y'all are the best!! xoxo
