Tuesday Shoesday: Tory Burch

 Summer is here, and while I love my flats and flip flops, wedge heels and espadrilles are my favorite choice for laid back summertime footwear.  There is something about a wedge heel that when worn with flowy dresses, thin gauzy tops and shorts, white jeans and lightweight wide leg pants, kicks the style factor up a few notches!  Not only are they easier to walk in, but they elongate legs and make ankles appear thinner, all good things in my book!

Hope it was a beautiful weekend wherever you were.  We saw The Radiators' farewell performance at the Maple Leaf Bar on Friday night, Jolie had her first swim in the pool which was just too cute (check out a clip on twitter here,) spent some time lunching and strolling in the French Quarter on Sunday, and celebrated Memorial Day with our great friends Jen and Mark.  Jen's spread was lovely as always with grilled burgers and brats, delicious corn on the cob and potato salad, and the most amazing red, white and blue summery dessert (see her recipe here today!)

As I was looking back through my archives, I realized it was exactly one year ago today that I was guest posting at my sweet friend Jen's blog, I'm a Nola Girl, as her and her hubby were living it up in La Ville-Lumière.  Paris has always held a very special place in my heart as I lived there during a study abroad in college, and there is just nothing better than Paris in the Spring. 

When I came across this editorial for Plaza Magazine, entitled "Paris, Je T'aime," I had to share it for Pink and Green Thursday.  Can you imagine anything better than frolicking around Paris in haute couture surrounded by champagne, macaroons and fresh baguettes?

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: Glamour in Paradise

"Black tie meets the beach" in this elegant editorial photo shoot via Style Me Pretty.  I am seriously swooning over her gorgeous jewels, and the two amazing wedding gowns by Douglas Hannant and Oscar de la Renta.  The backdrop of the ocean and the simple rustic table setting, contrasting with the beautiful coral charm peonies, yellow cymbidium orchids and pin cushion proteas result in a glamorous and dreamy picture-perfect shoot.  I'm ready to pack my bags for paradise!

Keratin Hair Treatment - Yay or Nay?

Needing some advice, please!  I have an appointment on Friday for a new cut, fresh hilights and a Keratin hair treatment.  I thought with the warm, humid summer that is practically here, it would be the perfect way to stay frizz-free and cut down on my hair-styling time.  I've heard mixed reviews about the long, dreaded four day no-washing period, and am of course kicking myself a little since I had big plans for poolside lounging this holiday weekend.  Can anyone offer any wonderful words of wisdom here?  My twitter gals have already weighed in and have been super helpful.  Did you love it?  Hate it?  How long did it last?

We had a blast at the kids' birthday parties, and ate some of the best crawfish I have ever had at our friend's crawfish boil (ever try adding mushrooms and green beans in addition to your potatoes and corn in your boil?  They were delicious!)  Jolie got to go for two long walks in the park, and we ended the weekend seeing Bridesmaids - there were definitely quite a few laugh out loud moments!  Did you see it?  What did you think?

Friday Smiles

Hooray!

It's Friday!

  I have an extra sparkle in my smile because:

I'm finally home in the warm New Orleans sunshine after an insane week and miserable travel trip home.

I was greeted by my sweet Jolie after four days of being apart with puppy licks and tail wags and kisses galore!

Two birthday parties this weekend means lots of cake and ice cream are in my future :)

Tomorrow morning includes sleeping in, and laying out by the pool with the hubs (yay!)

Seeing Bridesmaids - three cheers for chick flicks!!
