Pink and Green Thursday

First, I would just like to say THANK YOU for all your compliments and comments on my last post.  I simply adore Paris, and I thought all of these images really captured everything magical and dreamy about La Ville-Lumière.  When I lived abroad in college in London, part of my program was an externship in Paris for a month.  It was one of the best experiences of my life, I had the most incredible times there...and the Fashions, OH!  Absolutely stunning in every way!

This week's Pink & Green Thursday, much like the last two weeks, is a little bit on the random side. Without futher ado!

1)  Getting super excited for my birthday!  Here is a sneak peak of some of the decorations...it is going to be one very pink and green fête!

2)  I've been perusing this adorable cocktail cookbook, written by Ti Adelaide Martin and Lally Brennan, the proprietors of Commander's Palace this week.  Looking for a special cocktail to serve at the aforementioned birthday fête.

Right now the top two cocktail contenders are:

 Orgeat Punch

{Caption: "Popularized at the Roosevelt Hotel Bar, now the Fairmont Hotel, in New Orleans in the 1860's, this unique drink combines almond-flavored orgeat syrup, two kinds of rum, and a few other ingredients."}

1 1/2 oz spiced rum, such as Captain Morgan
1 oz orgeat syrup
1/2 oz 151 proof rum, such as Bacardi
1/2 oz limoncello
1/2 oz fresh lime and lemon juice ea.

Shake and serve on the rocks with lime garnish.

-or-

Whiskey Smash

{Caption:  "We'll probably be run out of the South, but we think this is an improvement on the Mint Julep.  The lemon tames the mint so it does not overwhelm the drink as it can in a julep.  Invented by our friend Dale DeGroff."}

3 lemon wedges
4 fresh spearamint leaves
1 oz orange curaçao
2 oz Maker's Mark
1 sprig fresh spearamint

Muddle the lemon wedges, mint leaves, and curaçao in a bar glass.  Add the bourbon and ice and shake well.  Strain the drink into a rocks glass filled with ice and garnish with the mint sprig.

Thoughts?

3)  I picked up these pink and green composition books from Target this week.  Aren't they adorable? I keep all of my work notes in notebooks, and I thought these were too cute to pass up!

4)  I've decided on this Shoshanna bikini as my first bathing suit purchase of the year.  All I can do lately is think about summer and bikinis and vacation, and out of all of my catalog and online shopping, this one is the winner!

5)  New watch!  I've been on the hunt for a new watch for some time now.  I wanted something playful, something different from my other nice watches.

I fell in love with this Michele Tahitian Ceramic Pink Diamond little beauty, but with the $1995 price tag, I am going to have to pass:

(Isn't it pretty though??)

Then I read about their new collection being released next month, called "Tahitian Jelly Bean," with a price tag of a much more reasonable $295, and look at these fun pink and green selections!  Perfect with summer around the corner!

(So hard to choose!)

6)  I mailed off my package this week for my lovely swap partner, hosted by the always fabulous Maryland Pink & Green and Shopaholic in AL.  Hope she likes her goodies!

7)  If you've never checked out the amazing blog, Dustjacket Attic, please run over and pay her a little visit.  Her photography posts are so inspiring and you will fall in love, TRUST ME.  She is such a sweetheart.  Here's a little tease from her post today:

(Thanks to my girly Bumpkin On A Swing for the glowing recommendation!)

8)  Ending on a happy note: more pink and green pictures for you!  Hope your week is going well, can't wait for the weekend!
