When it comes to eco-friendly market totes...I have been a total slacker. Sure I own plenty of them! Trader Joe's, The Fresh Market, you name it. All handing nicely in my laundry room. Nine times out of ten I dash out the door and it hits me in the check out line - I forgot them. Guilt trip ensues.
I've never made it a secret that I am a girly girl. Ruffles, bows, and lace are all the cat's meow to me! Well, imagine my surprise when my equally-girly mother brought me this little baby:
A LACE MARKET TOTE? I never dreamed of such a darling thing! Scalloped edges and an open lace pattern, it is indeed a little beauty. I keep it in my car and take it with me when I run errands. I have gotten a million compliments on it. (It's on sale at the Container Store here.)
There is an inscription on the inside of the strap that reads,
"Don't make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful; don't hesitate to make it beautiful." (Designed by Marie-Louise Gustafsson)
I think that's really sweet.
In typical Trishy style, I added a thick pink grosgrain bow. Perfect finishing touch, n'est-ce pas?

In other happy eco-friendly news, my Lilly Market Totes have finally arrived from the fabulous Preppy Princess! I ordered these back in January and have been counting the days until they arrived. You must run now and order them here...you will want to carry them everywhere!
I love that both the Lace tote and the Lilly totes will always coordinate with something I'm wearing too. BONUS! I am feeling MUCH more motivated to shop with my girly market totes now! Contributing to conserving our environment, one preppy bag at a time. Another reason to love GREEN and pink.
Have a great week lovelies -
Trish

I'm in love with your lace tote. And the pink ribbon only adds to the elegance. You're going to look very chic carting around your new eco-friendly Lilly totes. Who says you can't do your part for the environment while looking fabulous. I noticed in your profile that you mentioned you love New Orleans. I married a Southern gent from the Big Easy. I too adore the hidden charm of the city. Beautiful wedding pictures. You and your hubby look fantastic. I love that dress!!! Thanks for stopping by. I'm going to read your previous posts. I can see that we have a lot in common and I look forward to following your blog as well. Have a beautiful afternoon.

I always keep my totes in the back of my Odyssey... that way I'll never leave them. I was also going to tell about the Lilly market totes, but you already know!
ReplyDeleteDad gum, I really need that Lace tote, but it sucks, I have bought them and bought them, and still come home with the plastic, they sit in the truck and wait for me to get on the no plastic bag kick. I am ashamed, especially for a sea turtle welfare activist.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet you. Diamondhead, Gulfport, New Orleans, it's a date!
Maybe if I bought the lace tote, it would encourage me to do better. Don't you think, Don't you think?
PS My Trader Joe ones are my favorite. Insulated and all.
Sadly I have never been to Trader Joe's, it's on my wish list.
Ok missy, you no longer have an excuse to forget a tote. You have such adorable options!!
ReplyDeleteHow cute! And what a fabulous Mom you have :)
ReplyDeleteyou are my kind of girl! my husband is from N.O. and we meet at LSU- we LOVE new orleans and of course commanders. It was the first place he took me in N.O. thanks for joining my blog and I am following you now! hope to keep in touch
ReplyDeleteYou lucky thing! I have wanted one of those for ages! Looks super cute with the pink bow! Have a sweet day!
ReplyDeleteHi Trish!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment you posted on my blog. I'm so happy you found your way to it. I love yours too, and can't wait to add it to my "must-read" list!
Those are really pretty. Though, my girls would probably steal them from me. ;)
ReplyDeleteTo get in the habit of using mine, I put them back in the car after emptying them at home... so they "live" in my car. And if I forget to bring them in, I MAKE myself go out and get them, even if I have to leave my full cart for a few minutes. After a few times of dragging myself back out to the car to get them, I'm now better at remembering! ;)
Awww, we're just tickled you like the bags. We love ours and concur with everyone who says we have no reason *not* to use them in the future.
ReplyDeleteSending you a smile and hopes your week is going swimmingly,

Love the little lace tote and of course, those Lilly totes are must-have!
ReplyDeleteI love those market bags! I just have a random stash of old canvass bags I use which aren't nearly as cute. I really enjoyed the Miss Janice post too. I think a lot of people at my grocery store need to read it!
ReplyDeletei must have that lace tote. Thank you so much for sharing. I have a monogrammed market tote that is great for trips to the post office, etc. I love that Lilly is going green too.
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well.
PS-loved those getaway pics. :)
I see you are loving the lilly bags too! Isn't goat cheese just the best! You must check out Boatyard. Have a nice weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteI blogged about this basket! It's so cute and the bow you added makes it ten times better!
